AFTER BACH AND ELLINGTON - Duet for Trombone or Euphonium and Tuba, Grade 4
In two sections:
1. The opening Baroque section is an imitative composition in the style of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Inventions.”
2. The second section is a swing-style composition using changes (a harmonic pattern) that parallel Ellington’s “Take the A Train.” Much of the tuba line should be played in “walking bass” style – sounding like a pizzicato string bass as in New Orleans-style jazz.
